A story on two World War II veterans who will be honored at the Maspeth Memorial Day Parade featured in last week’s Times Newsweekly/Ridgewood Times had two statements which require correction.
First, one of the veterans, Stephen Marrone, reportedly stated that an old classmate of his, Angelo Roselli, had died in combat. In fact, Marrone told the paper that Roselli was not killed in battle but another friend—Philip Gillen of Minnesota—had perished in the war.
The article also mentioned that Marrone’s father served in the Italian Army during World War I. Marrone informed this paper that his father, in fact, served in the U.S. Army.
We regret any confusion which may have resulted.
