DEATH NOTICES With heavy hearts, the family of ELEANORM. MILLE (nee Sirgany) regrets to announce her passing on NewYear’s Eve, December 31, 2010. She was married for 43 years to the late Gustave F. Mille, Jr. She is survived by her loving and devoted children and family–two daughters, Michele (NY) and Karin (Bedminster, NJ), one son Michael and wife Andrea (NY), grandmother of Michael Christopher and Christina and a sister, Ruth Sirgany (Scranton, P.a.). Eleanor was a long time resident of Glendale, where she lived for almost 60 years. Born in Scranton, Pa., the youngest of 13 children of Ameen and Mary Maroon Sirgany, she graduated from Scranton Public Schools and was a graduate of Marywood College in Scranton where she received her dual bachelor’s degree in home economics and education. She took additional coursework at Saint John’s University. She worked as a registered dietitian (R.D.) at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan and as a teacher at Mater Christi High School, Astoria and Saint Agnes Academy, College Point. Mrs. Mille worked the major portion of her teaching career as a respected member of the faculty of Christ the King High School, Middle Village, where she taught home economics and business and developed innovative courses in child care and bachelor living. In her retirement she dedicated time and effort to working as an officer in the AARP–Glendale Chapter, participated in the Sacred Heart (East Glendale) Seniors, Saint Margaret’s (Middle Village) Seniors, Grandmother’s and Women’s Clubs (Glendale) and was a time honored 20 year member of the Catholic Daughters of theAmericas - Court St. Rose of Lima. A rosary service was conducted on January 3, 2011 by Deacon Peter Stamm at the request of the family. Amass of Christian burial was celebrated by the Reverend John J. Fullum on January 4, 2011 at Sa- cred Heart Church, East Glendale and she was laid to rest with her husband Gus at the All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village. Eleanor’s lovely smile will be remembered fondly, as well as her gentle, kind, warm personality. +++ ANNA LACKNER (nee Deutchmann) of Pawling, formerly of Glendale, died on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the age of 98. She was a native of Gotschee, Austria. She was the beloved wife of the late Johnann Lackner. She was the devoted mother of Brigitte Mielke, the late Albert Lackner, Herbert Lackner, Walter Lackner and Eleanor Stiebel. She is survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at Sacred Heart R.C. Church on Friday, January 14, at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment in Saint John’s Cemetery under the direction of George Werst Funeral Home, A Dignity Provider, 71-41 Cooper Ave., Glendale. +++ AGNES BAROZIE died on Thursday, January 6, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late George J. Barozie, loving mother of Joseph Barozie, George Barozie and Wayne Barozie, cherished grandmother of six grandchildren and dear sister of Stella and Marmie. A mass of Christian burial was offered at Ascension Church on Saturday, January 8, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero funeral home, 72-27 Grand Avenue, Maspeth. +++ ROSA J. NIEVES of Ridgewood died on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the age of 59. She was a native of Guayannilla, Puerto Rico. She was the beloved wife of Manuel Nieves, devoted mother of Alex Lugo, Ismeal Lugo, Annette Morales, Derrick Nieves, Michael Nieves, Tina Nieves, and Dennis Nieves, loving daughter of Jose Morales Perez and Anna Cruz Torres, dear sister of Raymond Morales, Anna Morales, Luis Morales, Enrique Morales and Jose Morales. She is survived by 18 grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial was offered at All Saints Church, interment followed in Cypress Hills Cemetery under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood. +++ EDWARD T. VANDUSEN of Staten Island died on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the age of 80. He was a native of Millville, N.J. He was the beloved husband of Joanne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She was a native of Brooklyn. She was the beloved wife of the late Ludwig, devoted mother of Louis Weimann and Jack Weimann. She is survived by four grandchildren.
