High Marks Earn Them H.S. Grants
Martin Luther High School in Maspeth announced that it will award Academic Excellence Scholarships to the 25 top scores on the exam held at the school in November. The results were announced at the school’s Scholarship Diner last week. The six students with the top scores received half-tuition scholarships, while others were awarded grants of $2,000 or $2,500 annually. As noted, the scholarships are renewable each year provided that a recipient maintains an average of 85. Half-tuition scholarship winners were Jeffrey Ahn and Sabrina George of the Lutheran School of Flushing and Bayside, Kyla Brown of Brooklyn Excelsior School, Emmi Schulze of Martin Luther School’s middle school program, Daniel Sparrow of Allen Christian School in Jamaica and Grant Terdoslavich of St. Joan of Arc School. Winners of the $2,500 grants were Jalen Bonitto and Alejandra Borges of the Lutheran School of Flushing and Bayside, Amanda Capobianco and Madeleine McCaughey of the Robert Wagner Jr. School, Luigi DePalma and Samuel Hernandez of Redeemer Lutheran School in Glendale, Kalovna Edward of Grace Lutheran School in Queens Village, Jeanine Hampton and Esther Schulze of Martin Luther School, Kiersten Plut of St. Margaret School in Middle Village and Matthew Varela of St. Matthias School in Ridgewood. Those who received $2,000 scholarships were Morgan Brown of Allen Christian School; Jamal Clarke, Jack Hernandez and Brian Tavarez of Redeemer Lutheran School; Liam Dalton of I.S. 73; JiHo Kim of the Lutheran School of Flushing and Bayside; Timothy Soberano of St. Matthias School and Pedrojade Torino-Lopez of Martin Luther School. The scholarship winners are shown above.
