DEATH NOTICES

DEACON GERARD STEFFENS
of Ronkonkoma, L.I., formerly of
Ridgewood, died on Friday, August
16, at the age of 71. Deacon Jerry, as
he was known, served St. Matthias
Parish in Ridgewood for many years
before bringing his talents to The
Church of the Holy Cross in Nesconset, L.I. He was the dear son of Mary
and the late John, beloved husband of
the late Mary, loving father of Frank
and Fran; and Cara and James, cherished

grandfather of Sal, Mariah,
Kayla, Daria and Shannagh, dear
brother of Edwin and Carole, Kathleen and John, Thomas and Joanne
and MaryAnn and Al and brother-inlaw of Kathleen and Owen; and
Teresa and Steve. He was also a fond
uncle to many nieces and nephews. A
Mass of Christian Burial was offered
at The Church of the Holy Cross,
Nesconset, followed by interment at
Calverton National Cemetery,
Calverton, L.I.

DOROTHY CHRISTO COSTABLE
of Melbourne, Fla. died on Sunday,
August 7, at the age of 94. A native
of New York, she was the wife of the
late Frank. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Melbourne Beach,
Fla., followed by interment at Mount
St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing, under

GIA ALLEMAND died on Wednesday, August 14, in New Orleans at
the age of 29. A native of Queens, she
was the loving girlfriend of Ryan
“Snuggy” Anderson, beloved daughter of Donna Micheletti, stepdaughter of Tony Micheletti, loving sister
of Dylan and Erick, cherished granddaughter of Marie Coltrinari, devoted
Godchild of Fred and Annemarie
Coltrinari and dear cousin of Brian,
Ellen, Kevin and Julie. Services will
be offered today, Thursday, August
22, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Grace
Church, Manhattan, under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home,

She was the wife of the late Francis

GIOVANNI MORELLO of Ridgewood died on Saturday, August 17, at
the age of 81. A native of Monreale,
Sicily, Italy, he was the beloved husband of Ignazia Morello, devoted father of Salvatore Morello and dear
brother of Scolastica Morello, Anthony Morello and Fortunato
Morello. He is also survived by two

LOUISE MELORO of Ridgewood
died on Thursday, August 15, at the
age of 89. A native of Ridgewood,
she was the dear sister of Anthony,
Joseph and the late Peter, Carmine

FREDERICK H. DETMERS, formerly of Woodhaven, died on Sunday, August 18, at the age of 76. A
native of Brooklyn, he was the devoted uncle of Linda and John Lello
and Susan and Matthew Lynch and
