DEATH NOTICES

JEAN GABEL ROTOLO of New
York and Nantucket, Mass. died on
Monday, August 19, at the age of 88.
She was born in Glendale and lived
most of her life there and in Forest
Hills Gardens. The last three years
of her life were spent on Nantucket
at the home of her daughter Karen
MacNab.
A professional dancer, Rotolo performed with the Rockettes in New
York City and later started her own
dance studio for children in Brooklyn. For many years, she ran a highly
successful gift shop at Wyckoff
Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn,
where her husband, Dr. Rosario S.
Rotolo, practiced medicine.
She is survived by her daughter
Karen MacNab, son-in-law Dr. Malcolm MacNab and grandchildren
Donald H. MacNab II and Meredith
(nee MacNab) and John M. Gray.
A Memorial Mass will be offered
on Friday, September 6, at 10 a.m. at
St. Pancras Church, Glendale.

memory to the Elder Services
of Cape Cod and the Islands, 144

CATHERINE A. BYRNE died on
Thursday, August 15, at the age of 73.
She was the daughter of the late Alice
and John Byrne, mother of the late
Steven and dear sister of John M.
Byrne Jr. and the late Margaret
Emma. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered today,
Thursday, August 29, at noon at Ascension Church, Elmhurst, followed
by interment at St. John Cemetery,
Middle Village, under the direction
of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27
Grand Ave., Maspeth.

AGNES SONNESSA died on Tuesday, August 20, at the age of 81. She
was the beloved wife of Theodore P.
Sonnessa, loving mother of Margaret
Palma and Christina Synnott, fatherin law of William, cherished grandmother of Jo Anna and Damien,
Christopher and Megan, great-grandmother of Lex and Alora and sister of
the late Walter Paolo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and
friends. Services were offered on Saturday, August 24, at Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave.,
Maspeth, followed by interment at
All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village.

PIOTR L. SZERESZOWIEC died
on Wednesday, August 21, at the age
of 58. He was the beloved husband of
Krystyna Szereszowiec, loving father
of Olivia Szereszowiec, cherished
son of Sabina and the late Jozef Szereszowiec, dear brother of Zbigniew
Szereszowiec and brother-in-law of
Andrew Ciesla, Mark Ciesla and Patricia Ciesla. He is also survived by
many nieces, nephews and friends. A
Mass of Christian Burial was offered
on Saturday, August 24, at St. Adalbert’s Church, Elmhurst, followed by
interment at St. Charles Cemetery,

MINA RAFAILA of Maspeth died
on Monday, August 19, at the age of
31. A native of Port Said, Egypt, he
was the loving son of Mounir
Shenouda and Victoria Ayoub and
dear brother of Marian Abdrabou and

died on Monday, August 19, at the
age of 82. A native of Inlauf,
Gottschee, Yugoslavia, he was the
beloved husband of Martha, devoted
father of Edward Trocha, Hermann

and dear brother of Josef Trocha and
the late Johann Trocha. He is also
survived by six grandchildren. A

Monday, August 26, at the age of 72.
A native of Hungary, he was the
beloved husband of Maria and devoted father of Judit Koenig, Maria
Pacheco, Veronica Horne and the late
