Sunday Service For Labor Day; Special Rosh Hashanah Svc.
All MTA New York City Transit subways and buses—and all buses operated by MTA Bus Company— will run on a reduced Sunday schedule on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. Riders are advised to plan their trips accordingly and to allow for additional travel time.
For those looking to get the Labor Day weekend started early, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) announced it will expand service out of Penn Station in Manhattan tomorrow afternoon, Friday, Aug. 30.
Eight additional eastbound trains from Penn Station on the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Port Jefferson and Port Washington branches between 2:29 p.m. and 3:48 p.m.
The LIRR will also offer expanded afternoon rush hour service out of Penn Station on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, for those heading home to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. Standard holiday eve trains will begin operation at 2:29 p.m.

Weekend, Overnight L Trains Disrupted
L train service will be suspended between Broadway Junction and Lorimer Street this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2.
During this period, L trains will operate in two sections—between Broadway Junction and Canarsie- Rockaway Parkway and between Lorimer Street and Eighth Avenue. Shuttle buses will replace L train service between Lorimer Street and Broadway Junction.
Riders can transfer between the shuttle buses and the L train at either Broadway Junction or Lorimer Street. For alternate service, transfer to the M train at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues or the A or J trains at Broadway Junction.
The shuttle buses will stop at L train stations as follows:
• Broadway Junction—on Fulton Street at Van Sinderen Avenue;
• Bushwick Avenue-Aberdeen Street—on Bushwick Avenue at Aberdeen Street (to Lorimer Street) or at DeSales Place (to Broadway Junction);
• Wilson Avenue—on Decatur Street at Wilson Avenue (to Lorimer Street) or on Cooper Street at Wilson Avenue (to Broadway Junction);
• Halsey Street—on Wyckoff Avenue at Weirfield Street;
• Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenue—on Wyckoff Avenue at Myrtle Avenue;
• DeKalb Avenue—on Wyckoff Avenue at DeKalb Avenue;
• Jefferson Street—on Wyckoff Avenue at Starr Street;
• Morgan Avenue—on Harrison Place at Morgan Avenue (to Lorimer Street) or on Morgan Avenue at Harrison Place (to Broadway Junction);
• Montrose Avenue—on Bushwick Avenue at Montrose Avenue;
• Grand Street—on Bushwick Avenue at Grand Street;
• Graham Avenue—on Metropolitan Avenue at Graham Avenue;
• Lorimer Street—on Metropolitan Avenue at Union Avenue.
Additionally, L train service will be suspended between Lorimer Street and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues on Friday, Aug. 30, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m.; and between 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, and 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
Shuttle buses will replace L train service between the affected section. L trains will operate in two sections: between Lorimer Street and Eighth Avenue and between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway.
Riders can transfer between the shuttle buses and L trains at either Lorimer Street or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenue.
Late Night Split Service On L Line
L trains will operate in two sections— between Eighth Avenue and Broadway Junction and between Broadway Junction and Canarsie- Rockaway Parkway—from 10:45 p.m. Wednesday night, Sept. 4, until 5 a.m. Thursday morning, Sept. 5. Riders can transfer between L trains at Broadway Junction to continue their trip.
A Train To Ozone Pk. Skips Two Stations
Ozone Park-bound A trains will skip the 104th Street and 111th Street stations on Wednesday, Sept. 4, through Friday, Sept. 6, from 9:45 a.m. until 3 p.m.
For service to these stations, take the A train to Lefferts Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound A train. For service from these stations, take the A train to Rockaway Boulevard, then transfer to an Ozone Park-bound A train.
Switch Of Lines For
E Train To Jamaica
Jamaica Center-bound E trains will run on the F line between Second Avenue and 21st Street-Queensbridge this holiday weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.
During this period, Second Avenue will be the last stop or all Manhattan/ World Trade Center-bound E trains, with trains switching over to the F line after West Fourth Street. Jamaica Center-bound E train service will originate along the F line from Second Avenue, then return to the E line after 21st Street-Queensbridge.
As a result of this change, there will be no Jamaica Center-bound E train service from the Court Square- 23rd Street and Queens Plaza stations.
For service to these stations, transfer to an uptown A or C train at West Fourth Street to 42nd Street-Port Authority, then transfer to a Queensbound 7 train. For service from these stations, take the R train to Roosevelt Avenue or the nearby 7 train at the Queensboro Plaza station, located a short distance from the Queens Plaza station.
Late Night Switch For E Train This Week
Jamaica-bound E trains will run on the F line between Manhattan and Queens late night on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9:45 p.m. until 5 a.m.
During this period, these trains will skip the 14th Street, 23rd Street, 34th Street, 42nd Street, 50th Street, Seventh Avenue, Fifth Avenue-53rd Street, Lexington Avenue-53rd Street, Court Square-23rd Street and Queens Plaza stations.
For service to Court Square-23rd Street and Queens Plaza, transfer to the A or 7 trains at 42nd Street-Port Authority.
Late Night Express On E Line In Qns.
Manhattan-bound E trains will skip the 67th Avenue, 63rd Drive, Woodhaven Boulevard, Grand Avenue and Elmhurst Avenue stations late nights on Tuesday, Sept. 3, through Friday, Sept. 6, from 11:45 p.m. until 5 a.m.
For service to these stations, take the E train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train. For service from these stations, take the E train to 71st-Continental Avenues, then transfer to a Manhattan bound E train.
N Train Will Skip Stops In Astoria
Astoria-bound N trains will skip the 39th Avenue, 36th Avenue, Broadway and 30th Avenue stations on Thursday, Aug. 29, and Friday, Aug. 30, from 10:15 a.m. until 3 p.m. During this period, there will be no Q train service between 57th Street and Ditmars Boulevard.
For service to the skipped stations, take the N train to Astoria Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound N train. For service from these stations, take the N train to Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to an Astoria-bound N train.
Additionally, Manhattan-bound N trains will skip the 30th Avenue, Broadway, 36th Avenue and 39th Avenue stations this weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2.
For service to these stations, take the N train to Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to an Astoria-bound N train. For service from these stations, take the N train to Astoria Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound N train.
Tube Closure Splits R Train Until 2014
R train service between Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn has been suspended at all times until October 2014 as the MTA conducts repairs to the Montague Tube under the East River, which was severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
As a result of the tunnel’s closure, on weekdays and weeknights, R trains now operate in two sections—between 71st-Continental Avenues in Forest Hills and Whitehall Street in Manhattan; and in Brooklyn between Court Street and 95th Street-Bay Ridge.
During weekends, R trains will operate as one line between 71st-Continental Avenues and 95th Street-Bay Ridge, but shift to the N line between Canal Street and DeKalb Avenue. As a result, R trains will skip the City Hall, Cortlandt Street, Rector Street, Whitehall Street, Court Street and Jay Street-MetroTech stations.
