In the top photo, MTA employees line up in their cars to fuel up at the Fresh Pond Road bus depot in Ridgewood last Friday afternoon. According to an MTA spokesperson, the employees were given gasoline in order to travel to and from work and keep the city’s transportation system moving. In the bottom photo, a common sight around Queens last weekend were lines of residents—some carrying more than one gas can—waiting to fill up at the few local service stations that had gasoline, such as the Getty gas station on Rockaway Boulevard in Ozone Park. Police were dispatched to many of the stations to provide crowd control and security after fights broke out at some locations.
